Food Roots held our first meeting in the spring of 2010. We identified a need to respond to the issues of food systems development on the East Shore. We are focused on local food security within the global garden, and hope to be the hub for the people and groups involved in the growing, production, secondary processing, eating, marketing and preserving of edibles on the East Shore of Kootenay Lake, in British Columbia, Canada. We are proud to be a group that celebrates diversity and empowers people towards local food cultivation, with a focus on education, entrepreneurship, fellowship, sharing resources & knowledge on the East Shore.
Food Roots is looking for food conscious folk to join our group. Let us know if you’d like to volunteer!
Also, if you have an idea for a post on a local food topic (a food related event, a great new variety of veggie you grew this year, your local food business that helps support local food production, the list is endless), contact us to become a website contributor.
